Indian Chicken Biryani

So the food maniacs, mouth watering to get a dig on this flavorsome meal? Wait no more. Follow the recipe to have a royal food experience in the comfort of your home.

Recipe - Serves: 4 people

Prep Time: 1 Hour 

Cook Time: 1 Hour 

For marinating Chicken

Ingredients:

For marinating chicken:
  • 750 gms chicken cleaned and washed well
  • 1 tsp full ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tsp Pride of India Biryani Masala (Contains Turmeric, Red Chilli, Cumin, Black Pepper, Bay leaf, Salt, Ginger, Onion, Garlic, Cardamom, Clove, Cinnamon, Coriander)
  • 10-12 mint leaves
  • 6 green chillies vertically slit
  • 1 cup fried onions (5-6 medium size onions deep fried)
  • 1 cup beaten yogurt
  • 1 tbsp lemon extracted juice
  • 1 tbsp oil
For Cooking Rice:
  • 600 gms basmati rice
  • salt
  • Pride of India garam masala
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds/Zeera
  • 1 tsp oil
For garnishing/seasoning
  • ½ tsp green cardamom powder
  • 2 tbsp fried onions
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 8-10 mint leaves
  • 2 tbsp freshly chopped coriander leaves
  • 1 tbsp onion-flavored oil(oil remained after frying onions)
  • 1 tsp ghee
  • 3-4 saffron strands mixed with 2 tbsp of milk
Marinating chicken:
  1. Firstly, in a bowl, add the chicken pieces, add Pride of India Biryani Masala, ginger garlic paste, mint leaves, slit green chilies, fried onions.
  2. Mix this whole mixture well.
  3. Add beaten yogurt, lemon extract, oil.
  4. Mix the whole marinade well so that the masala is coated well to every chicken piece.
  5. After mixing well, marinate the chicken for one hour. 
    Cooking the rice:
    1. Wash the basmati rice and soak the rice in water for about 20-30 minutes.
    2. Take a pot, add water into it, add salt as per taste, add Pride of India garam masala. 
    3. Add black cumin seeds and bring the water to a boil.
    4. Add the soaked rice into the boiling water.
    5. Cook the rice for about 5-7 minutes.
    6. Switch off the flame and strain the rice

    Making Biryani:

    1. Take a cooking pot and add little oil all over the base.
    2. Add the marinated chicken at the base and spread the marinade evenly.
    3. Over the chicken, add the rice that has been strained and spread it evenly.
    4. Finally garnish the biryani with green cardamom powder, some fried onions, coriander leaves, mint leaves, lemon extract, some oil, ghee, saffron flavored milk.
    5. Cover the pot with a lid for 10 minutes. 
    6. Switch off the flame.
    7. Biryani is ready! 

    You can have it with curd and onions!
