Father’s Day Special | Achaari Kitchari Recipe

With this being said, it’s time to thank our father for his unequaled sacrifices, embrace his responsibility of nurturing and raising children, and for his devotion to family.

This Father’s Day pledge to give a little bit more attention to his health and prepare a unique energy-packed tangy Achaari Kitchari that is sure to be a surprising treat for him. Achaari Kitchari Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Pride of India Extra Long Indian White Basmati Rice (soaked for 30 mins)
  • ½ cup Pride of India Split Yellow Mung Lentils (soaked for 30 mins)
  • ½ cup Pride of India Split Yellow Chickpea Lentils (soaked for 30 mins)
  • 1 tbsp Pride of India Gourmet Kitchari Spice
  • 1 tsp Pride of India Gourmet Cumin Seed Whole
  • Pride of India Himalayan Black Salt (as per taste)
  • 2-3 tbsp Pickle Masala
  • 2 Green Chilies
  • 1 tbsp Ghee
  • 1 tbsp chopped Coriander Leaves

Directions

  • Put long grain white basmati rice, moong dal, chickpea lentils, green chilies, turmeric powder, and black salt in a pressure cooker.
  • Add 4-5 cups of water, cover, and place the cooker on heat. Cook under pressure till 2 whistles.
  • Heat ghee in a non-stick pan. Add cumin seeds and kitchari spice mix. Sauté for 30 seconds.
  • Add cooked rice mixture and give it a good mix.
  • Add pickle gravy and mix well.
  • Switch off the heat and garnish with coriander leaves. Serve hot.
